It's no secret that children learn by example. That's why it's so important to adopt eco-friendly practices into your day-to-day life so that they can learn what to do and what not to do. We've put together a list of six easy ways you can teach your kids about sustainable and eco-friendly living.

Here are Four Easy Ways to Teach Your Kids About Sustainability & Eco-Friendly Living:
1. Eat Local Seasonal Foods at Home
Supermarkets get all kinds of food from all over the world and this requires a lot of resources and energy, specifically in production and transportation. Local and seasonal foods require much less energy to produce, store and deliver which lowers the carbon footprint impact on the environment!
2. Teach Kids to Value Water
You can raise awareness in your home through gestures and showing the kids that you can close the tap while brushing your teeth, putting dishes in the dishwasher rather than washing by hand and avoiding any activity that involves running the tap!
3. Donate or Re-Sell Used Items in Your Home
Kids tend to outgrow clothing and forget about old toys and we suggest you do an “end of the year cleanup” where you go to each kids room and donate any books, clothing and toys that are no longer being used to any nonprofit organizations. You can also use this as an opportunity to teach your kids about reselling items on Kijiji or Letgo.
4. Bring Reusable Bags When Shopping
Bring your eco-friendly bags whenever you make the trip to the supermarket and the more often you participate in this green activity, the more likely the child will view it as normal and will continue with this habit when the child grows!
