Our FAVOURITE Homemade Garlic Pickles Recipe!

Green City Living Co. homemade recipes

Pickling vegetables is so much fun all year round! It's a cheap but delicious way to spice up any meal. We wanted to share a simple and easy way to make homemade pickles just cause who doesn't love a stinking good pickle?

Here's What You'll Need for our Favourite Garlic Pickles Recipe:

Ingredients

  • 1-quart mason jar and lid (usually 1 cucumber for every jar depending on the size)

  • 1 cucumber (pickling cucumbers are optional but I made mine with English cucumbers and they turned out fantastic)

  • 3 cloves garlic (feel free to add more or less)

  • 4 sprigs fresh dill (optional; I used no dill and they STILL turned out delicious!)

  • 1 tbsp pickling spice (store-bought or homemade)

  • 1 tbsp sugar

  • 1 ½ tbsp kosher salt

  • ⅔ cup white vinegar

  • 1 cup of water

Directions

  • Slice the cucumber into 4 long slices. Cut the 4 slices in half if you're using a long English cucumber.

  • Mince the garlic cloves.

  • In a separate mason jar, add the pickling spice, sugar, salt, and vinegar. Tightly close the jar and shake it up until sugar and salt are dissolved. Add the water to the jar.

  • In a clean mason jar, add in the sliced cucumbers along with the garlic and dill. Make sure to push the garlic down to the bottom of the jar so it's evenly spread and not hanging out at the top.

  • Pour the pickling brine into the jar with the cucumbers using a funnel if needed

  • Tap it on the counter to release any air bubbles and top it up with extra water.

  • Close tightly and store in the fridge for at least 24 hours before eating!
