5 AMAZING Tips for Reusing What You Already Have!

Green City Living Co. eco home

An easy and amazing way to practice sustainable living is by reusing what you already have! We wanted to share our favourite tips for reusing what you have at home.

Here are 5 AMAZING Tips for Reusing What You Already Have:

1. Keep a Veggie Scraps Bag for Vegetable Stock

In a freezer bag, save your vegetable scraps such as carrots, celery, onions, garlic, and potatoes more to make a stock (you can use peels or any part of the vegetable you would normally compost/toss). Once your bag is full, cook these scraps in a large pot with salt, peppercorns, and two bay leaves for up to 12 hours on low heat. Your homemade stock can be used for soups, pasta, and stews. Wash and reuse your freezer bag too!

2. Freeze Foods That Are Going Bad

To avoid food waste, make sure you freeze any foods that are about to go bad.

3. Reuse Old T-Shirts

You can turn your old t-shirts into pretty much anything! You can make it into a hair towel, dishrag, reusable grocery bag, pillowcase, and much more.

4. Reuse Plastic Containers & Plastic Cutlery

It’s easy to throw these in the dishwasher or give them a rinse and reuse them!

5. Always Carry a Reusable Mug & Water Bottle

This will help you avoid wasting single-use plastic water bottles or coffee cups.
